According to the book Hill End Book 1, my ancestor Dr William George Faddy practiced at Hill End at some time. Any information in regard to him would be very much appreciated.
Craig Faddy-O’Brien
Hi Craig,
According to some of our death registrations Dr Faddy was there approximately between 1861 and 1864. This was a period before the still existing hospital at Hill End was built in 1872, so he probably served in very difficult circumstances.
Check out Trove newspaper articles but use Faddy and “Tambaroora” instead of Hill End as it wasn’t until 1862 that it was officially gazetted as that name.

By August 1864 he appears to have moved on to the Northern Goldfields.(Tamworth and the Peel River )

Have you seen his entry in the Australian Medical Pioneers Index? http://www.medicalpioneers.com/cgi-bin/index.cgi?detail=1&id=3906
This should give you a few ideas, He was obviously well thought of.
cheers

Hi Craig and Lorraine. I, too, am a Faddy descendant (of William George Faddy’s great grandfather Peter). I am keen to know if Craig has any information on the ancestry of the family, in particular in respect of Peter Faddy. I have been struggling with it. With many thanks. Also thanks to Lorraine for the information on Dr Faddy. Lorraine
